Cole Family unveil EKCO Sculpture
Three Generations unveil sculpture in Southend
Three years since the sculpture "Our Eric" was completed, 30 members of the Cole family including Eric's daughter Anne, gathered with Southend Mayor Stephen Habermel and Anna Firth MP to celebrate the legacy EKCO had on Southend.
The sculpture depicts the EKCO electronics founder on top of his iconic AD 65 radio. His suit is made from over 180 photographs reflecting the history of the factory: Products made, sports and social events and marketing posters. It is all documented in a brochure, available on the Southend Museum website. The sculpture stands on the former factory site on Cole Avenue.
